Looking at the red line in the picture you see that track is curved toward right. You know the electrons bend anticlockwise so the negative particles bend the same way and hence the positive particles bend clockwise. The line is very dark compared with the others. This means that the particle has low velocity. If two tracks have the same momentum (curvature) the more massive particle will make the darker track because it has less velocity. The proton has a mass seven times that of a pion. |
