Discovery of Omega minus

One of the most famous bubble chamber pictures of all - this shows the discovery of omega minus in the Brookhaven National Laboratory 80 inch hydrogen bubble chamber in 1964.

The 5.0 GeV/c K- beam interacts with a proton:

K minus + p --> omega minus + K+ + K0

The omega minus then decays to Xi zero + pi minus, with subsequent decay of the xi zero to a lambda and a pi zero.
