I teach Physics in a Liceo Scientifico (liceoscientificomc@libero.it, which is a High School) together with Manlio Bellesi. We collaborate from around ten years and we teach in two parallel course the same matters: classical mechanics, equilibrium thermodynamics, classical electromagnetism, plus a smattering of 'modern' physics (including: special and general relativity, basic elements of quantum mechanics, structure and evolution of stars, classical cosmological models). In the last two years, a third year of course, I have introduced some history of the Astronomy.

As I have already written, I'm an amateur astronomer and with some friends we have an astronomic Observatory and a webpage: http://crabnebula.it/. I'm sorry . . . it is only in italian.

WHY SHOULD I ATTEND?
--------------
I have been interested in Physics since university years. Teaching High
School physics since 1984 (discarding all math classes!)I have always
been looking for opportunities to broaden my knowledge of the subject
as well as the spectrum of classroom activities. CERN's programme looks
exactly what I was waiting for.

HOW WILL I DISSEMINATE KNOWLEDGE?
--------------
The school I work in (Liceo Scientifico "Galilei" in Macerata) is striving
for activating and promoting a number of initiatives concerning scientific
issues - especially Physics and Astronomy ones. It's a brand new thing
in a geographic area which has always privileged humanities. However,
public awareness and interest has been steadily growing during the
last ten years. We promote open conferences and seminaries at various
levels. Professors from universities (Pisa, Rome, Perugia, Camerino)
and researchers from the Gran Sasso National Laboratories have given
(and hopefully will continue to give) decisive contributions with their
talks. Simply put, our aim is the spreading of scientific culture among
"the common people", and by joining the CERN's programme I should no
doubt be able to perform such task a lot better.

HOW DID I LEARN ABOUT HST?
--------------
Attending at a meeting for high school Physics teachers in Frascati in
September 2001 (organized by INFN) I have become friend with Dr. Silvia
Vannucci Giromini, who suggested the possibility of joining CERN's
Programme.
