My name is Athanasios Christophilopoulos, I am from Greece and live in
Athens.
I am a high school teacher in the 4th Lyceum of Peristeri. Peristeri is a
sector of Athens. The age of our students is 15 to 18 years. Lyceum in
Greece is the level of education before University and consists of three
classes A,B and C.
I teach Physics in all classes and Chemistry in classes A, B.

Hst in the 4th Lyceum of Peristeri, Athens.
Graduated in 1982,Faculty of Physics in the University of
Cluj-Napoca,Romania.
I have attended post graduate courses,in 1985-86,at the National Centre
of Nuclear Research "Democrit",Athens.
I have attended courses in mathematics,in British Open University,in
1996-98.
Member of Hellenic Physical Society (HPS).
Participation in 5 Panhellenic Congresses of HPS.
Presentation on Bohr's Atomic Theory in the 9th Panhellenic Congress of
HPS, in November 2001.
Participation in 3 Congresses between Greek and Cypriot Physisists.
Member of the Committee for Panhellenic Olympiads in Physics,organised
by HPS,in years 2000 and 2001.
Articles in the review of HPS "Physical World" on:
the laws of motion
force,work and impetus
galilean and einsteinean relativity.
Presentation in public open lectures:
from Aristotle to Galilei
the birth of Quantum Theory.

WHY SHOULD I ATTEND?

I think that this programme
a. would improve my knowledge on physics
b. would give me the chance to get in contact with teachers from other
countries with a different way of thinking
c. I would be informed about current developments in physics
d. it would make me a better teacher.

HOW WILL I DISSEMINATE KNOWLEDGE?
--------------
There are small groups of students in our school to work on more advanced
topics on physics. We also write articles on physics in various magasines
and school papers.
I give lectures on various topics on physics such as, how the ideas of
physics can influence our way of thinking and living,to both specialised
and no-specialised audiences.


HOW DID I LEARN ABOUT HST?

During a visit to CERN for three days,with other Greek High School
Teachers,some years ago.
