I'm Catherine Lydoire and I'm 38. I teach physics and chemistry in a French high school in Bron near Lyon (the second or third biggest city of France). The pupils are from 15 to 20 years old. You can have a look at the high school website which address is: http://www2.ac-lyon.fr/etab/lycees/lyc-69/jpsartre/index.php.

I apply to the HST programme to update my knowledge in modern physics and to share experience with the other participants. Also, I hope the studious stay at CERN will help me to build up several projects I have with my classes. For the coming year, I plan to run a workshop to promote sciences as many students avoid scientific careers. Next, a European class will be soon created in my school and I will teach some courses in English. So the CERN's all-in-English programme is the perfect opportunity for me to improve my language skills.

Otherwise, I have been in Lyon for 11 years. I moved from Bordeaux (where I was born) because of my job. Lyon is a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is famous for its architecture, cooking, restaurants' atmosphere and « Guignol » (popular French glove puppet). Lyon is also the place where the Lumière brothers invented cinema. The city is about an hour and a half drive from Geneva and is worth visiting.
