My name is Carlos Azevedo. I’ m 43 years old. I come from the beautiful
city of Porto in Portugal, famous worldwide because of its famous wine.
I have a degree in Physics – Educational Branch (University of Porto). I
have been teaching Physics and Chemistry at Colégio Luso-Francês, a
private school in Porto since 1991. Presently I’m the Coordinator of the
Department of Exact Sciences, Nature and Technologies. I’m also the
local responsible for Project Alfa - Apprenticeship on Physics Lab –
organized by the Physics Department of University of Aveiro, sponsored
by the National Agency for Scientific Culture and Technology. For five
years, I have been responsible for the selection and training of
students to participate in the Physics Olympiad at my school. For the
last two years I’ve been working as a Students’ Trainer to help them
with the final preparation for the International Physics Olympiads, at
the University of Coimbra. In 2006, I joined the national team, as an
observer, by the IPhO in Singapore, where my student won a bronze medal.
I love cooking, listening to jazz music, reading and walking. I am very
enthusiastic about theatre. I even participate in the setting up of plays
whenever there is some performance at my school.
