My name is Charlotte Wood-Harrington.  I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in Adolescent and Young Adult Science-Physics. I live in Chicago Illinois, near the Museum of Science and Industry, and Lake Michigan.  I taught Honors Physics for 8 years at Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory.  In the fall I am off on a new adventure in teaching.  I will be at Proviso Math and Science Academy teaching Physics First, Algebra, and Research Core.  It is a new school that emphasizes student research on the high school level.  http://pmsa.pths209.org/index3.asp

I have been a member of the University of Illinois at Chicago QuarkNet group for 7 years.  We have performed mean life time studies including comparing muon life times on the top of the Sears Tower and at ground level.  Currently we are working on CLASA, Chicago Large Air Shower Array; an inter-district and inter-school collaboration searching for high energy cosmic rays.

My students at Brooks have been part of CLASA studying Cosmic Rays using detectors.  They presented their findings at the Chicago Section of the AAPT conference in 2006.

My interests include, physics, teaching of physics, making science and math accessible and entertaining, traveling, Jane Austen, and above all asking questions!  I am married to Andrew Harrington and have a beautiful daughter, Alethea.
