I have been teaching physics and biology for over 20 years. During the past 10 years I have been teaching in the Hilton Central School District. The town of Hilton is located in upstate, western NY, on the shore of Lake Ontario, one of the 5 Great Lakes in our country.
I am currently
teaching AP biology and Regents (state–level) physics to students ages
16-18. The Regents program is based upon a core curriculum that prepares all
students for a state-wide exam at the end of the school year.
Since our curriculum has only a small modern physics component, I try
to implement the concepts of particle physics into the traditional Newtonian
studies whenever I can.
For 5 years I
have been a member of QuarkNet, our national particle physics organization
for high school teachers and students.
Each summer I do cosmic ray research through the University of
Rochester and am currently working with large muon detectors.
These detectors will eventually be installed in the
MINERvA experiment at Fermi Lab outside of Chicago Illinois.
When I am not teaching or doing research, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to my sons’ and husband’s ice hockey games and just relaxing!
