I started my academic education in 1979. I graduated in 1989 in chemistry and physics. In these 10 years I attended a lot of other colleges (I’m addicted to learning) in chemistry and physics. Not only the compulsory ones but also extra-curriculum ones. On top of that I made some steps in law school, in public management, psychology and economics. I also spent half a year at the Delft Technical University for studying subjects in chemical engineering, fluid dynamics and separation technology. The results of the research I did there, were immediately used by ESSO to implement in the refinery which was built in those says. You can’t fill 10 years with college: I spent a lot of time in playing in a jazz band (trumpet) en an awful lot of time in rowing. I tried very hard to be sent to the Olympics in Los Angeles n 1994. As you can see in the statistics of these games: I failed. After my graduation I started my career in research. After some years in research in different organizations, I worked in quality assurance, in consultancy, in the development of environmental technology and as a civil servant. All these years I tutored a lot of students. And I liked that very much. So in 2004 I decided to become a professional teacher. In the years from 2004 until 2007 I qualified at the Leiden University as a chemistry teacher first and later as a physics teacher. I’m still a rower, the trumpet is getting rusty in a corner of my study, the bluesharp has taken it’s place, I married Liesbeth and we have been blessed with the three most beautiful daughters of the universe: Liselotte (13 years), Annelotte (11 years) and Myrthe (5 years).
