I am a participating HST alumnus.
After being a participant in HST2008, I returned
to CERN the following September for the First Beam Test of the LHC.
While there, a video conference between CERN and my high school in
Norway was set up with the help and participation of Mick Storr and
the participation of Erik Adli, a Norwegian physicist working at
CERN. This was later integrated into my teaching of the optional
topic in Particle Physics in the IB Diploma Programme. That
experience, plus my participation in HST2008, has prompted me to
take a study leave from my teaching position in order to begin a PhD
in Physics Education at the University of Oslo.
In addition to providing organizational support
for the programme team and consultancy for the participants, my
involvement in this year's HST also forms a part of the research for
my thesis.
