I currently teach Physics to students between 14 and 18 years old.  I teach just north of Washington, D.C. at James Hubert Blake High School.  I have been teaching Physics for eight years in Maryland. I received my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a focus in Earth and Space Science and Physics in 2001 from Penn State University and am now finishing my Masters of Science in Educational Technology at Johns Hopkins University.  I work very closely with the University of Maryland Physics Department and two of my high school students were co-publishers on a String Theory Physics Paper this year with Dr. Sylvester Gates at the University of Maryland.  I strongly believe in the Constructivism teaching philosophy and I utilize discrepant events and inquiry to get my students thinking about the world around them and how it works.

I am originally from Vermont but I have lived all over the United States including Washington, California and Florida.  My interests include listening to music, skiing, running, video games and photography.  I am an avid college basketball fan and college football fan. I love good food and good company especially when I can combine the two.  I am married to my terrific wife, Becky.  She keeps me young at heart.

I am excited to be part of the HST Program at CERN and to get the opportunity to be a small part of such a grand science experiment.  I can’t wait to utilize what I learn here in my classroom for years to come.  I look forward to working with such a globally diverse team and experiencing CERN first hand.
