Note:   each of the vertices shown below should be read from left to right. The left hand side represents BEFORE and the right hand side represents AFTER

The two basic vertices of the electromagnetic interaction are:

By rotating the arms of the vertices, the following interaction possibilities are generated. Note that the time still flows from left to right and a backwards facing arrow represents a particle travelling forwards in time.
