I am Charles S. Merriam II. I live in Norfolk, Virginia USA and teach at a private, 12-year, college preparatory co-educational day school, Norfolk Academy.

I received my undergraduate BS degree in Engineering, Social Sciences and History from the United States Military Academy at West Point and my MS graduate degree in Mechanical & Automotive Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA.

I spent some time in the US Army and taught engineering subjects at West Point.  For the past 18 years—since my retirement—I have taught physics, advanced physics and an occasional class of calculus at Norfolk Academy. The Academy—the seventh oldest secondary school in the USA—was founded in 1728. It was an all boys’ school for most of its existence but became co-ed in 1966.
