About this site

XXI century physics @ ClassrooM

This site is addressed to teachers seeking to find resources to teach particle physics but not only. It contains model lesson plans and stand-alone activities prepared by experienced High School Teachers.

We offer classroom activities to introduce 21st Century Particle Physics in High Schools.

Our aim is to bring students to the frontier of physics using a non-quantitative and fun approach, i.e. free of equations.

It is our duty as Science High School teachers to prepare our pupils to the world of Science at large. We wish to bring forth some of the recent theories underpinning the revolution currently witnessed within the field of particle physics.

We will address relationships between physical and biological worlds as well as their practical and sometimes life-saving implications.. We used conceptual and procedural schemes to transcend disciplinary boundaries.

How do scientists carry out experiments beyond the "observable" world?.

We present theories and experiments to empower pupils to be confident and competent learners.

Each lesson:

  • Takes about 50'
  • Contains an 'Activities sheet' to the students in pdf/word format.
  • Provides on-line resources to raise students interest.

This work was prepared during High School Teachers 2006 at CERN, Geneve (July).
